Wipeout

I remember first going water-skiing around 12. My parents had won a water-skiing trip at a church "auction" raising money for the youth. My puny little muscles couldn't get me up. A couple years later my uncle bought a boat. We went to the lake a couple times each summer (good memories with friends growing up). I favored riding the tube. One time I finally got up on water skis. I can't even remember when the momentous occasion was.

We went to Lake Anna on Saturday, and even pregnant, I still have it...well, sort of. Remember when I got tagged? I mentioned I have a strange attachment to my body? I am by no means a dare-devil when it comes to water-skiing. Please, go slow, please, don't go over the wake...you see where I'm going. Well, apparently that chickenness (new word) intensifies when I'm pregnant.

The kids loved the boat, although Little Man missed riding the tube because he fell asleep. Before he feel asleep, he just wanted to keep jumping out of the boat into the water every time we stopped. He is fearless. Boo had a great time on the tube with her Aunt Jeannie and Cousin E.

I love Lake Anna. The only other place I have ever attempted to water ski was in Utah. Okay, so I couldn't even get out from under the blanket and off the boat. It was freezing. I prefer to be warm in water--even if it is heated by the nuclear plant nearby. What a way to end the summer.

You are amazing, Jules. I too have major problems getting up on any sort of ski, but that's because they cause me to inherently RUN INTO THINGS! Anyways, you are one crazy prego, and as beautiful as always! When are you coming to Utah next year? I MUST see you!

When are you due? CRAZY girl!! Of course, by the look of the pictures, you don't look a day pregnant. Are you sure you're pregnant? Just kidding! I am so envious of your pregnancies! I wish I could go waterskiing. What a blast!

Fun! Impressive! I've never gotten up...but I've always gone with a bunch of people and didn't want others to wait around for me to fall over and over. Uncle P helped me try the most times, but I still didn't get up. That bugs. Really wish I'd have done that by now. I'd like to try wake boarding next, I think it looks easier. I was however, expecting pictures of OBX! We're going to Disneyland in October and no one's going to let me do the thrilling stuff. I kinda really want to do The Materhorn...but don't think it'll happen.

The last time I went wakeboarding in Lake Powell everything was going fine, and then I wiped out... HARD. I ended up catching my front edge and face planting so hard. The momentum caused my contact to move off my eye and I got a black eye. I also bit down so hard that I chipped a tooth. Needless to say, I'm a little nervous to go while pregnant. But, I have a mission companion who went salom skiing while 7 months pregnant. She said keeping her balance was a struggle, but she grew up on skiis. And Carrie, I do think wakeboarding is easier than water skiing, although I've never sustained injuries from waterskiing.

I am 16 weeks prego. And yikes, Brooke--a black eye?!! I would be a little weary, too. Trac--I think we're coming in July.

Hey girl,

Bummer you guys didn't make it to Puerto Rico - but I'm sure your kids appreciate the sacrifice and resulting opportunity to go to Disney World! Although I have to say that, based on principle, or maybe just for selfish reasons, we're going to attempt to not let our kids ever even hear the words "Disneyworld" or "Disneyland" (or Kings Dominion or videogames or any of those other evils) :)

Anyway, I've been so pleasantly surprised by what one can do while pregnant. In fact, it appears the only thing one can't do is wear one's non-prego pants after about 24 weeks. Our little guy didn't even get in the way when we went rock climbing this past weekend! I think we need to start a campaign to squelsh (word?) the nasty old wives' tale that life must be put on pause when pregnant! Here's a link to pics you can use when establishing our campaign :)

Hey, also, I don't know how, um, "granola-y" you guys are, but I've just caught wind of a wonderful way to save the planet and your pocketbooks (read: more vacations to more places unspoiled by industrialized countries' waste!): www.diaperfreebaby.org - something to consider with another little baby debuting in the MudrickWorld, and yet another should-be-obvious lesson we can learn from our "underdeveloped" brothers and sisters around the world!

Christi--
That is ridiculous how good you look at 7 months. You better be doing some prego modeling.
