Naomi Jane

Yeah, I know it's late, but it took this long to persuade Julie to hand over her password. -Sam

On Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at 5:20 A.M., Julie was dreaming of a getaway in Hawaii when she was awakened by the literal "pop" of her water breaking. 13 all-natural-no-epideral-I'm-serious-she-didn't-use-any-drugs hours later we welcomed Naomi Jane into our family. Naomi weighed a slight 7 lbs. 14 oz. (Julie was visibly disappointed not to have broken the 8 lb. threshold) and was 21 inches tall/long. I use the past tense because she has lost a few ounces since, which she is steadily gaining back, and because we opted to get her legs "lengthened" to prepare for what will surely be a record-breaking career in the WNBA.

Julie was AMAZING throughout the entire labor and delivery. Her strength and calm have only deepened my love and respect for her. She even managed not to scream "GET IT OUT OF ME!", like last time. As she recovers I'm sure she would appreciate comments here and emails of support.

For everyone who voted "girl" on the poll, we'll be sending out autographed used diapers within the week.

Congratulations! Can't wait to meet little Naomi! Looks like B is loving the little baby idea - I love how she's there helping you hold her! I'm excited to finally see a picture of her - I had forgotten to ask (both times) who you thought she looked like...a bit like B but not all the way, right? We are super excited to have a second alternative for a future Motley/Mudrick union. I want to meet her! Give her a kiss on her soft cheeks for me! Love you guys tons!

Congratulations! Hopefully, we'll get to meet up with you this summer and meet Naomi in person. Hey, when are you going to have a baby that looks like Julie? Naomi looks just like Bella and Sam. After all that hard work she deserves a little clone!

I was only disappointed in her size because she was 6 days late and the other kids were 8lbs 5oz and 8lbs 7oz. I wanted something to show for my suffering. I did yell for the nurse to shut the door. I didn't want to scare those first time mothers. Also--just wanted to say that picture is taken after no sleep and hours of natural childbirth. No make-up. Maybe we can find a decent one in a month after I'm getting a little more sleep.

Congrats! She is definitely a Mudrick. Good thing she looks so much like Sam, because I was worried about who the father was :) Call me when I can come visit and bring your baby some pretty little Gap clothes!

Congratulations on the delivery and no meds....don't you feel like you just won a marathon. It's such a rush to do it the way of our foremothers :) She's absolutely beautiful. Obviously fits in with her siblings. Your family is just perfect.

p.s...on the sisters who look so much alike...you're in for it when they are in high school and everyone knows the cute Mudrick girls:) Funny how the generation has flip flopped...now there are Mudrick girls instead of the Mudrick boys! The Atkinson girls always created quite a stir...so it's only appropriate:)

Congrats!! You are a trooper Julie! Naomi is a darling name and she looks like she fits right in. Take it easy and best of luck as you embark upon the title of "Mother of Three" :)

Jules! I was just thinking about you this morning--how I hadn't heard anything about whether that little bundle was born yet...she is BEAUTIFUL!! I love the name Naomi. You ARE my hero! ALL NATURAL! Don't know if I could pull that off..without killing someone or severely maming my husband! Although i did NOT win the baby poll challenge--I AM REALLY RELIEVED to NOT be receiving any smelly packages in the mail!! EWWWWW Sam! And, really NO NEED to get those little legs lengthened--she'll inherit those already! CONGRATS!!
